Choose a photo with the full skirt visible
Shoot at least from the knee down to the hem, standing straight, with the skirt not folded under your hands. A photo where the hem already has a shape gives the model a clear starting point for the flare.
Describe one turn, not three
Say how fast the turn is and where it ends: “one slow turn to the camera, the skirt opening on the second half.” Several turns in five seconds usually blur the fabric into a single color.
Test in Medium, then keep the good one

A fast spin hides the flare. These habits flatten it:
- Spinning too fast: a blur of fabric reads as motion noise. Ask for one turn at a readable speed.
- Heavy, stiff fabric: thick denim or brocade barely lifts. Choose a lighter weight, or describe the hem swinging instead.
- A busy background: a patterned wall competes with the skirt. Use a plain backdrop and let the hem carry the eye.
- Hands on the hem: folded or held fabric cannot open. Keep the arms loose in the reference photo.
