Camcorder mistakes to avoid
The tape look is forgiving, but a few habits break it:
- Grain on a grainy photo: the face disappears into noise. Choose a clean reference.
- Stacked effects: flash, glitch, vignette and a date stamp all at once. Ask for two at most.
- Locked-off camera: a still frame feels like a stock clip, not a tape. Describe a handheld drift.
- Blown flash: a burst on a bright face erases the features. Say “soft flash” or “flash on the wall”.
- Silent party: the party lives in the sound. Name one or two sounds, such as music, laughter or a door.
