How to make a photo booth clip

Three steps from one photo to a finished clip, in the studio:

Choose a sharp, evenly lit photo
Pick a photo where your face is clear and the light is even. A harsh flash in the source photo carries into the clip, so a soft, daylight or lamp-lit reference works better than a snapshot taken under a hard flash.
Describe the booth, the flash and the poses
Name the set first: velvet curtain, mirrored wall, neon strip. Then the flash, one moment and the sequence: “a single white flash, then three poses, then a turn to the lens”. Plan two or three poses per clip.
Test in Medium, keep the strongest take
Run a five-second test in Medium at 480p to check the flash timing. Once the pose lands, render the keeper in High 720p or Ultra High 1080p.

Photo booth mistakes to avoid

The booth is simple, but a few habits ruin the flash:

A flash that is too close: a direct flash washes out the skin. Describe it as an accent, not the main light.
Too many poses in one clip: a long chain blends into a blur. Keep it to two or three poses per clip.
A busy set: neon, sequins, mirrors and a patterned curtain all at once. Pick one backdrop and let the pose carry the frame.
A soft or blurry source photo: the clip inherits the softness. Use a sharp, evenly lit reference.
Skipping the test: a multi-pose clip is the costliest one to repeat. Five seconds in Medium first.
