Neon, wood and cues: the details that break
Dive bars have plenty of texture and very little tidiness. Watch for these:
- Readable neon text comes back garbled. Ask for a glowing sign or a shape instead.
- Pool cues and balls are thin. A slow orbit keeps them from warping.
- Bottles on a shelf become a crowd of tiny labels. Ask for “a row of unlabelled bottles”.
- Fingers near a jukebox button are small and quick. Keep the press a single slow move.
- Keep the crowd soft in the background; sharp faces in every corner multiply mistakes.
A clean corner with one good light often beats a busy bar with five.
