Confetti is motion you can time
Confetti is pure movement. It is light, it reflects light, and it falls at a speed the eye reads instantly. On a phone screen a single burst can carry a whole clip, because the eye follows the pieces down and lands back on the face, which is exactly where you want it.
The trick is timing. A burst at the start tells the viewer that something has happened; a burst at the peak of a turn makes the turn feel bigger. Describe the moment in plain words, such as “on the first beat”, and keep the rest of the scene calm. For a louder crowd, the rooftop party scene adds wind and skyline glow to the same idea.

Confetti is generous, but a few habits turn it into noise:
- Confetti over the face: keep the eyes and the mouth clear of the densest part of the burst.
- Too much confetti: a few well-timed pieces read better than a storm.
- Dark pieces on a dark room: choose bright, metallic or pastel pieces against darker backgrounds.
- Too many colors with no plan: pick two or three colors for the whole clip.
- A burst with no reaction: a burst needs a look or a laugh to land.

Why does the confetti seem to float?
Slow motion and a shallow depth of field make pieces drift. Ask for slow motion and a gentle fall rather than a sudden drop.
